Jonathan Swinton, MS, BFA
I started the now nationally known Swinton Photography over a decade ago after receiving thorough training from one of the premier university photography programs in the region. Since then I have had about a hundred images published nationwide in numerous books and magazines, had photographs displayed in more than a dozen art shows, received multiple photographic awards, judged photography competitions, worked freelance and been hired to manage teams of photographers for large events. My experience and eye for photography will make your images true pieces of artwork.
In addition to my work with Swinton Photography, I have a passion for my artistic photography. Feel free to visit my art site at:

I got my start working for Tillman Crane, traveling from Arizona to New Mexico, Idaho to Montana, and California to Maine.
I worked as a teaching assistant for the Waterford Photographic Workshops, including the Mammoth Camera Workshop, and attended the Maine Photographic Workshop. I received training through these workshops from other renowned photographers such as Paula Chamlee, Michael Smith, and others.
I have experience working with many different photographic media and formats, from historic processes to advanced digital tools.
I have had my work displayed in prestigious art shows and have also been the recipient of various photography awards.

I have had a passion for photography for most of my life. My uncle, a nationally recognized photographer, gave me an old camera as a boy, from which I learned the basics of light and exposure. I found great joy in the creative process - from framing the shot, developing the film, to finally seeing the image come to life in the darkroom. In college I gained much experience as a photographer and photography editor for the newspaper. Despite a love for photography, my career goals led me down another path. I pursued a career in medicine and now work as a pediatrician at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Throughout my rigorous training, photography has been my creative outlet. My job brings me great satisfaction and has changed the way I view the world, especially through my lens. Life is a precious thing, and I enjoy the challenge of capturing its beauty, whether as seen in a beautiful landscape, or in the eyes of a newborn child. For services in the Kansas City area, visit
